Designer Vanshika Kumar turned Ketto's design system into a DESIGN.md file, written for AI agents to read. She recounted the experience in a Medium post.

Three years ago, Vanshika launched her first design system with a lengthy document: usage guidelines, dos and don'ts, edge cases. Almost no one read it, she says. The problem came back during a summer internship, while building prototypes with AI. The agent pulled the tokens (the color, typography and spacing variables) from Figma, but did not always understand why to use a component or what to do when a pattern did not fit.

The idea came from an article by Lisa Demchenko, shared by a friend, about writing a design system markdown file that Claude can understand on its own. Instead of handing the AI just a list of components, Vanshika wanted to record the human judgment behind each choice. The post points to the file ketto-design.md. The part describing the process still appears as "coming soon."
