Apple launches HomePod mini 2

Apple launches the HomePod mini 2 with Siri AI and new colors at an event in New York. The new model brings improved audio features and a chip.

Apple launched the HomePod mini 2 at an event in New York on October 13, 2026. The model brings Siri AI, new colors and improved audio features compared with the original. Pre-orders start on the same day as the announcement, October 13, and it is available in more than 23 countries. The HomePod mini 2 comes in five colors: pink, green, blue, white and midnight. The S10 chip replaces the S5 from the previous model, delivering more power and performance. The Sound Glow feature makes the top of the device glow and pulse with the music, reacting to bass and treble.

Siri AI, however, will only be available in a future update, not at launch. The feature will only be released in English in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Apple did not say whether the update will reach Europe. The HomePod mini 2 can also be used with the Apple TV 4K for four-speaker surround sound. The model keeps the design of the original, but gains more audio and artificial intelligence features. The announcement was made at the 'Welcome Home' event, along with the HomeView, a hub with a screen, and a new Apple TV 4K.

The HomePod mini 2 gets an S10 chip, which is more powerful than the S5 in the original model. With the new chip, the HomePod mini 2 can better integrate Apple devices at home, such as the Apple TV 4K, and deliver surround sound with four speakers. The previous version, with the S5 chip, did not have this capability.

The choice of color may reflect the user's personal taste, but it also affects the visual experience with the Sound Glow feature. The animation uses colors derived from the album cover and soundscapes, such as rain. Apple raised the price of the original model from US$ 99 to US$ 129 in early 2026, but the HomePod mini 2 costs US$ 149. The price change may indicate a premium-pricing strategy for the new model, even with improved features.

Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of home product marketing, highlighted that the HomePod mini 2 brings together Siri AI, new colors and high-quality audio. 'With Siri AI, it understands you better than ever, using personal context,' she said. The new version of the HomePod mini comes in five color options, including pink and green, in addition to the previous colors. The statement was made at an event in New York, where the model was officially announced.

The HomePod mini 2 improves Apple's integration at home with audio features that connect better with other devices. The S10 chip replaces the S5, allowing greater processing power and support for Siri AI, which is not yet available at launch. This creates a more engaging visual interaction. The model can be used as a speaker for the Mac and works with the 2nd-generation HomePod in front and rear pairs. This versatility increases its usefulness in sound systems. Apple has not revealed the price or sales date in Brazil, but the model arrives in the US starting October 30.

Siri AI will be released in a future update, but will only be available in English in some countries. Availability in Brazil has not yet been confirmed.
