Honda presented an electric mountain bike prototype at Sea Otter Europe. The model blends motorcycle elements with e-MTB technology. The version is expected to reach Europe in 2027.
The prototype has a motorcycle-inspired design: a full body, a custom frame, Fox shocks and DT Swiss wheels, unlike the tubular structure common to commercial e-MTBs. Honda has opened sign-ups for updates on the model but has not yet revealed specifications such as battery capacity, weight, price or launch markets. The company returns to the e-MTB segment after two decades away from it, redefining the category's visual language with inspiration from its own motorcycle designs.
The model has 29-inch wheels up front and 27.5-inch wheels in the rear, a setup known as "mullet", aimed at balancing speed and maneuverability. The custom frame and Fox shocks are meant to smooth out rough terrain. The idea is to offer a riding experience on difficult terrain, with electric assistance for every skill level. Honda already allows sign-ups for information on its German site, a sign that it is treating the project seriously. Launch is expected in Europe in 2027; data on Brazil has not yet been confirmed.
